THE 25th WFDYS BOARD MEETING AND 3rd WFDYS CHILDREN CAMP IN WASHINGTON, DC, USA

25thBoardMeeting

The 23rd WFDYS Board meeting was held prior to the 3rd WFDYS Children Camp.

We prepared for our final year of four year tenure period. We discussed about logistics surrounding the WFDYS Youth General Assembly 2015 to be held in Istabul, Turkey this July. We also reviewed the current action plan and devised a new 4-year action plan to be approved by the delegates at the Youth General assembly and to be implemented by the next WFDYS Board (2015 – 2019). We also revised a couple of guidelines with clarity. We proposed a couple of new points in the WFDYS Internal Rules for the WFD Board to approve on.

The children camp was hosted by DYUSA, Deaf Youth USA, 1 – 8 August 2014. The location of the camp was at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. The camp objectives are to provide leadership training for deaf youth and children, encourage ideas for organizational and advocacy work, develop transnational networking, serve as a temporary space for cultural and linguistic exchange, and to inspire! 40 Deaf children and 21 leaders from 18 countries attended the camp. In total 85 persons attended this camp including 18 staff-members and 6 WFDYS Board members.
