THE 26th WFDYS BOARD MEETING IN MOSTAR, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

The 26th WFDYS board meeting was held in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. We discussed and prepared the video and text materials for the 6th WFDYS Youth General Assembly to be held in Istanbul, Turkey. We also drafted a new action plan for 2016 – 2019 and revised all guidelines to be used by the YOMs and next WFDYS board.

The WFD organised a day workshop for representatives from the Balkan Deaf Community and a good number of participants joined in. WFD Board members presented information based on the specific articles of the CRPD relevant to deaf people. Mr Alfredo Gomez, a board member from the European Union of the Deaf (EUD) shared his knowledge about the process of the CRPD Parallel Report.

We also had a panel discussion with representatives of the Deaf Association from Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to learn of their views on the CRPD implementation in their country. WFDYS also gave a session about the Deaf Youth Movement. We had very good media coverage for the workshop to raise the issues within the country.
