Hello. We very much appreciate the WFDYS honouring sign language rights for all including Deaf women. Why Deaf women in particular? In the evolution of Deaf communities around the world Deaf women have not been a prominent force. But over the past two days we have seen this change with the launch of a beautiful new book commemorating the lives of 38 Deaf women. The real-life stories within tell inspiring narratives of the role Deaf women have played in shaping and evolving Deaf communities over the years. And sign language has played an important part in that too. So my message is sign language rights for all Deaf women. Now, I want to see Deaf women in your country come to prominence.
